ABOUT THE ROLE

Works directly with the Founding Attorney across the full spectrum of the firm’s IP practice — patent prosecution, trademark management and enforcement,
trade compliance and anti-counterfeiting analysis, technical research, and business immigration support. The role demands the analytical rigor and technical fluency that only a specialized engineering or scientific background provides.

MINIMUM EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENT

A Bachelor’s degree or higher in one of the following engineering or scientific fields is required for entry. No general, non-technical, or unrelated degree satisfies this requirement.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Draft patent applications, claims, and specifications for clients in mechanical, chemical, and technology sectors
  • Prosecute trademark applications through the full USPTO lifecycle (TESS, TEAS, TSDR); draft Office Action responses
  • Monitor and enforce trademarks on digital marketplaces (Amazon, eBay, Alibaba); lead takedown strategies and CBP border enforcement
  • Analyze customs import data and supply chains to identify counterfeit goods and IP infringement patterns
  • Conduct patent landscape and freedom-to-operate research; prepare technical memoranda for attorney review
  • Support employment-based and nonimmigrant visa petitions (including L-1 and H-1B); assist with USCIS RFE responses
  • Maintain IP and immigration databases; manage prosecution deadlines


REQUIREMENTS [All Required for Hire]

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical, Electrical, Computer, or Chemical Engineering; Petroleum Engineering; Chemistry; or Computer
    Science / IT
  • Ability to read, draft, and interpret patent drawings, engineering schematics, and technical specifications
  • Strong analytical skills and data analysis capabilities — including data monitoring, pattern identification, and reporting
  • Advanced data analysis tools (Excel, PowerBI, or equivalent)
  • Prior professional experience in an engineering or technical manufacturing environment
  • Precise written communication in English
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent matters with strict deadline discipline


DIFFERENTIATORS [Nice to Have]

  • Proficiency in USPTO systems: Patent Public Search, TESS, TEAS, TSDR
  • Proficiency in WIPO Global Brand Database and international IP databases
  • Experience with immigration case management systems (InsZoom, USCIS online filing)
  • Familiarity with EAR/ITAR export controls or customs classification of technical goods
  • Advanced data analysis tools (Excel, PowerBI, or equivalent)

ABOUT THE ROLE

Reports directly to the IP attorney and handles the technical core of the firm’s patent and trademark practice. The role calls for someone who can engage with inventors, work through complex engineering disclosures, produce patent drawings to USPTO standards, and translate technical knowledge into precise legal filings — from initial applications through Office Action responses. The Analyst also prepares the  technical evaluations that support business immigration petitions filed on behalf of engineers and  inventors.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conduct technical reviews, research, and analysis across patent and trademark matters; report directly to the IP attorney
  • Perform trademark and patent searches using USPTO systems (TESS, Patent Public Search) and international databases (WIPO)
  • Draft trademark and patent applications including claims, specifications, and supporting declarations
  • Draw and interpret patent drawings in compliance with USPTO requirements per USPTO drawing standards
  • Draft responses to USPTO Office Actions under attorney supervision
  • Maintain the IP database; track prosecution status, renewal deadlines, and portfolio performance
  • Communicate with clients and technical subject matter experts; generate portfolio and compliance reports
  • Prepare technical evaluations and documentation for employment-based and nonimmigrant visa petitions


REQUIREMENTS [All Required for Hire]

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical, Electrical, Computer, or Chemical Engineering; Petroleum Engineering; Chemistry; or Computer Science / IT
  • Ability to read, draft, and interpret patent drawings and engineering schematics per USPTO standards per USPTO drawing standards
  • Demonstrated ability to draft patent applications, Office Action responses, or equivalent technical-legal documents
  • Proficiency in USPTO patent and trademark systems: Patent Public Search, TESS, TEAS, TSDR
  • Proficiency in WIPO Global Brand Database and international IP databases
  • Strong written communication in English; organized, detail-oriented, and deadline-driven
  • Professional client-facing communication — direct interaction with inventors, engineers, and counsel
